    Description

Lavishly illustrated in color and black-and-white, this early out-of-print book provides a pictorial survey of antique stained glass windows in San Francisco.
SAN FRANCISCO'S HERITAGE IN ART GLASS
by Edith Hopps Powell, Salisbury Press, WA, 1976.
Pictured in this oversize book are stunning examples of stained glass creations of The United States Glass Co., which flourished in San Francisco between the years 1895 and 1915.
Many of San Francisco's historic places and buildings that are adorned in this art glass are pictured and described.  There is a special chapter on Mr. Otto Dressler, who was the only person on the staff of United States Glass Co. still alive at the time this book was written.  Stained glass windows are pictured for the following buildings: Bardelli’s Restaurant, City of Paris, Palace Hotel-Palace Court; Hibernia Bank; City Hall, Olympic Club; Woodside Home; Nautical Window; Victorian House; Stanford Court Hotel; and Cypress Lawn Cemetery.  Also pictured are Mr. Dressler’s Collection of Stained Glass and his Own Designs.  If you appreciate American art glass - and stained glass in particular - you will want this beautiful book as a part of your permanent art glass reference library.
