The craft developed into an art in the hands of such men as Luca, Andrea and Giovanni, the workers of the Pirota pottery, which established the fame of the Faenza majolica, and the Castle Durante workshops. New methods were tried, new materials, new colors, new glazes, until the peak of achievement was reached in the sixteenth century.
